Father can do anything, 2021, performance

This artist connects the festival theme, «Forms of Unity» to the theme of parenthood. After visiting the Gaza House of Culture and discovering many art studios for children inside, the artist is reflecting on fathers’ and mothers’ roles in raising children. Drawing on the famous Soviet children’s song «Father can do anything!» (words by Mikhail Tanich, music by Vladimir Shainsky), the artist revisits the lyrics, reading them as an anthem of unequal parental roles. The song starts to sound strikingly different after that.
